I am finished editing a project containing about 60% HMC 150 30p and about 40% VX2100 footage . (ouch)
Luckily all footage is shot 16 x 9

I am editing with FCP 6

I am attempting to have the 2 formats end up as similar as possible with the best possible quality

The end product will be on DVD

I have attempted up-ressing the VX footage in compressor with Apple ProRes 422 for Progressive Material to 1280 x 720
Which unfortunately did not give satisfying results

Now I am contemplating down-ressing the HD footage to match up the 2 formats.
  • What would you guys recommend?
  • Does anybody have a clever alternative way of combining HD & SD for DVD?

Thanks in advance.

If the end product is to be on DVD, then you should be downconverting the HMC150 footage rather than upconverting the VX2100 footage, since DVD's are SD, not HD.
