Full Version: Was This A Good Deal?

Went to a photo auction earlier today, my first auction ever. As you know, you get stressed out when bidding and go over your limit. Anyways, I was set for this Rolleicord and a 80-200 2.8 nikkor ED. My maximum for the Rolleicord was 1000 sek - and I set it there by guess since I don't know much about this market (medium format). Anyways, I won the bidding at 1400 sek (plus 20% apparently, to the auction firm). the 80-200 went for more then I was set for, still cheap, but I though "How much will I really need it?".

1400 sek = $200 today. But things are more expensive here (and dollar is low), so see it as about $170. Now is this a good deal? Decent? Because other went for less, and some older rolleiflexes went for less. But this isn't a well known auction, and I've been recommended it cause you usually get stuff very cheap.

So basically I just want to stop having anxiety about it, haha. I allways wanted a MF camera, and this is a lot cheaper then a Hasselblad so. Condition: Very Good

Rolleicord (Franke & Heidecke 1950s, 6x6cm) with Schneider Xenar 3.5/75mm

How much did the 80-200 go for? Do you have a 70/80-200 2.8?
Chrisfoto
i bought my richo tlr (much like yours) for like 100$
don't really follow TLR's though so not sure if you got yours cheap or not..sorry not much help

but i'll tell you this
you've got a mf camera now, give it a month or two before you get sucked into buying a hasselblad or bronica

I don't have one, that's why I was interested. It went for about 4300 sek, about 600 dollars, which is still cheap since I've found used ones for like 6000 sek so.

True that, haha. Hopefully I'll save my money for a new digital body (D700 maybe). I have a Imacon/Hasselblad scanner here at work that I'm using, so hopefully I can shoot a bunch and scan it here before I have to leave at the end of the month.

I think you'd love the focal length range. I'm a big fan of portraits with a 70-200.
